Gaku Kuroda Shirohagi Vase small
Shirohagi Vase small made by Gaku Kuroda in Hagi City(this city has long time history for making potteries since 1600), Yamaguchi prefecture.
He was born in Nagano, Japan in 1948, studied Pottery in Kyoto and moved and opened his studio in Hagi in 1977.
Higi ware use white clay from granite( Daido clay) and clay contains iron( Mishima clay).
Normal Hagi ware is fired in lower temperature but Onihagi made by Gaku Kuroda is fired twice, so its texture is different and unexpected penetration happen when you use it for a long time.
Shirohagi(Hagi ware with white graze color) ware is fired with graze made by straw. This graze makes clay special white color.
Comes with wooden box with his signature.
