Keiji Okushima lives and works in Shiga prefecture near mountains by Lake Biwa. He was born in 1977 in Shiga, and graduated at Ritsumeikan University industrial Sociology and Toyama City Institute of Glass Art. He became an independent glass artist after working at a glass studio and kimono dye workshop.
His works is inspired by the rich nature of his hometown. He makes hand blown glasswares and glass art objects. "I like glass because there is reflection and refraction of light. There is a world inside and outside. There is solidness and liquidness. Glass seemingly has an element that disagrees with itself. I strive to express and explore the charm of glass."
